Specifications and Options
Whether the shades are lowered or raised, Roman Shades make any room look elegant. Their rich appearance connotes luxury and functional excellence. They are available in 18 fabrics, 115 color choices and 2 pleat options to compliment any style or individual preference. Each fabric has a white backing, creating a uniform look from the outside. There are 14 different room darkening options to meet the light filtration and privacy needs of any owner. Their proven hardware system will ensure years of smooth, reliable operation, consistent fabric folds and no sagging. There are many popular design options including the Continuous Cord, the Top-Down/Bottom-Up and the Two-on-One Headrail. Both the classic and flat pleat styles are accompanied by a matching fabric valance.
Valance: Each Roman Shade comes with a 3" matching fabric-covered valance, giving the shade a smooth, uninterrupted look. When raised, the fabric gathers beneath the valance for an elegant, stacked appearance.
The Bottom Rail: The Classic Roman patented bottom rail is almost invisible throughout the shade operation and does not interrupt the fabric flow.
The Flat Roman bottom rail sits neatly on the sill and protects the fabric and creating a high style appearance.
Lift and Support System: The Roman Shade lift system creates a consistent and uniform series of folds throughout. Spacing supports ensure that the shades operate without creating sags or unevenness. When fully raised, Roman Shades appear to have a decorative top treatment.
Opacity:
Roman Shades come in a variety of fabric types; each offers a varying degree of privacy and light control. Whether you hope to invite the light to fill the room, or to keep virtually all of the light out, you'll find that the Roman Shades accommodate your needs. Each swatch deck includes the opacity rating for that shade.
Room Darkening Fabrics: Some of the fabrics come with a Room Darkening option. These include Avalon, Brushed Suede and Briarwood. These fabrics come with an opaque liner that adheres to the back. Testing has shown that these Room Darkening fabrics block 99% of all light. Whether you choose the Classic Style or the Flat Style will also impact the percentage of light that is blocked.
Style Options
Classic Roman Style
The Classic Roman style shades include the sculptural qualities of the traditional Roman Shades. They add depth and interest to your windows. When raised, the Classic Roman Shade finishes into a matching valance.
Flat Roman Style
The Flat Roman style shades offer a subdued approach to a classic look. When lowered, the fabric is the main focal point of these shades. When raised, the shade folds like a Classic Roman style shade and finishes into a matching 3" valance.
Surcharge Options
Top Down/Bottom Up
The top down/bottom up feature is designed to maintain your privacy while still allowing for optimal viewing and natural light. This feature is ideal for air circulation on double-hung windows and is available with a standard cord lock only. It measures the same as the standard shade and is available in both Classic Roman and Flat Roman. For pricing, add 25% to the standard shades.
Two-On-One Headrail
The two-on-one headrail feature allows for two shades to have the same headrail but still operate independently. Some shade specifications require two shades on one headrail. The single panel width for a shade varies for each fabric and is listed in parenthesis next to the fabric name on each grid. This is available only in the Classic Roman style and the price is that based on the overall dimensions as a single shade plus a $50.00 retail surcharge.
Continuous Cord System

The continuous cord system includes an integrated clutch locking system which uses a continuous loop pull cord. The shade automatically stops and locks in place when the cord is released. The cord length on these continuous cord shades is available from 2 feet to 15 feet at 1 foot intervals. Certain fabrics, including Avalon, Briarwood and Brushed Suede Room Darkening, are only available for use with this system. This is available for both the Classic Roman and the Flat Roman styles. Due to weight requirements, certain shades must employ the continuous cord system in order to properly function. When this is the case, no surcharge will be added to the shade price. Weight requirements vary per fabric and are explained on each price grid under the heavy rule. It is important to note one measuring issue; the continuous cord headrail will always be approximately 3/8" wider than the fabric. It you want the fabric to cover a specified area on the outside mount, you must add 3/8" to the width when the space allows. For pricing, refer to the bottom of each price chart.
